NYS Council of Churches Sponsorship Opportunities

The New York State Council of Churches is looking for sponsors for its 10th Annual Awards and Fundraising Gala to be on November 13 at the Crowne Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel, at 660 Albany Shaker Road in Albany.

The evening will honor exceptional individuals with awards such as:
    Excellence in Housing Justice Award
  Excellence in Ecumenism and Interfaith Relations Award
    Excellence in Social Justice Award
    Excellence in Union Organizing Award
    Edwin Muller Chaplaincy Award

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Celebration will be held this Wednesday (January 15) at 7 p.m. at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany.    The Capital Area Council of Churches provides the following information.   This year’s speaker is Rabbi Greg Weitzman Senior Rabbi of Congregation Beth Emeth. CACC names new executive director

Peter Crasto-Donnelly has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Capital Area Council of Churches . Peter has served on the board for five years and as Board President for the last two years. He is a member of the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas in Albany.     In making the announcement, the board expressed its thanks to Bruce France for his five years of service as Executive Director and thanked him for his ongoing help to ensure a smooth transition.   A video message from Peter is available here .

This is the continuation of a blog with the same name that lived on the website of the Albany Times Union for more than seven years until last week, when the newspaper decided to end that service. I am grateful to the staff of the paper for giving me the opportunity to reach out to their large audience and develop a following that was concerned about the role of religion in our public life. We in the Capital District are blessed to have an interfaith community that willingly shares its beliefs without feeling the necessity to attack those who believe differently.
